How do you go on from day to day with yourself. It’s a question that shakes my very core.

You’re asking all the wrong questions.

I can answer simply that the bridge that takes me from one day to the next is pillared by nothing more than an unwavering love for life, the relentless willpower to succeed, dignity and a keen understanding of my own mortality, but these are intangible concepts all foreign to you.

Don’t take that the wrong way. I just mean that your question is remarkably transparent and that your flavor of self-loathing is something not entirely unfamiliar to me. It’s not difficult to go from one day to the next. What takes a bit more effort is turning those dismal shades of gray into color and every passing moment into a moment of fulfillment and joy, all of which can only be possible with self-love. What you mean to ask me is how to love yourself.

This has nothing to do with confidence or conquering insecurities. The simple truth of the matter is that all of us, every last person on this planet, are worthy of love.

Believe it or not, you understood this as a child. You may not have thought it consciously but it’s the very reason why you were so giving of love and accepting of it from others. Somewhere along the way though, you forgot how. Your eyes grew tired from seeing the unchanging earth, your soul calloused, your very existence nothing more than a daily chore.

Dig deep and retrace your steps. Unlearn. Forgive yourself and all the people who have ever hurt you. Shine a light onto the dark, sticky crevices of your soul and find beauty within yourself.

(Yes, you can.)

Ask me anything
